A bar brings together all the elements that make Amsterdam so special. A beautiful, contemporary cocktail bar, the kind of which can only be found in in world-class Grande Dame hotels, such as the Amstel Hotel.
The drinks menu of A bar is full of remarkable cocktails based on local liqueurs and spirits and ingredients prepared in our own kitchens. Cherry, hibiscus and other liquors are sourced from the small-scale Amsterdam distillery Wijnand Fockink. The hotel's own kitchen provides other essential components for the cocktails. Syrups made from flowers for example, and raspberry and strawberry shrub, a vinegar-based condiment that was highly popular in colonial America and is now enjoying something of a renaissance. Barrel-aged cocktails are another rediscovery. Cocktails ripened in in oak vats were all the rage in the roaring twenties, an example of which, the Negroni, is the ultimate cocktail for a jazzy Sunday afternoon on the A bar terrace. Other drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are also available.
On the menu you'll find as well 'food to share' and other selected dishes. Pure, fresh and simple are the keywords for the regularly updated menu. The stars of the show are the delicious seasonal products sourced from top suppliers. A big influence is the Scandinavian food trend, but then based on fabulous local-grown produce.
